Built digitally, the Blade Side Table has a swollen, almost anthropomorphic form. Its belly opens into a central void while the waist narrows and sharpens, stretching upward and outward in opposing directions to balance the two ends. It has the monolithic look of carved stone and is uncannily light in the hand, with an overhanging void and a sharp edge that would be nearly impossible to cut from an actual block.

Joey Aji is a Brooklyn-based designer working between sculpture and furniture. His pieces start as digital models built from architectural fragments, domes, columns, corbels, and carved ornament, then get 3D printed and hand-finished in marble dust and mineral resins until the surface passes for stone. Syrian American and raised around Orthodox and Mediterranean architecture, he treats those forms as a language he can reshape by hand.
