Solid steel rods transition into scrolls at the top of the chair, evoking classic ionic columns. The flared seat is comfortable while maintaining a pleasing sense of scale. The chair is blackened and sealed with a natural non-toxic furniture wax that preserves the luster of the raw steel.
Micah Rosenblatt is a Brooklyn-based designer and metalworker making sculptural furniture that pairs industrial forms with a whimsical edge. Trained hands-on in New York's high-end metal shops, he is drawn to steel's capacity for great strength with visual lightness, tracing the outline of a form rather than its volume. His work has been featured in The New York Times, Architectural Digest, and the A24 film Problemista.
