Two snails curl in at the rim, and that's all this fluted vase needed on top. Built in grogged white clay, glazed in layers, then worked over with Indian ink that settles into the texture. 

Talia Warshawsky makes contemporary ceramics that look like they were dug up in ancient Mesopotamia. She trained in Mashiko, Japan, where the pottery taught her to step away from perfection, and she traces her heritage to Morocco, whose art and culture run through her work. Before clay she spent ten years designing textiles, which is where her love of texture comes from. She works in London, and every piece keeps the marks of her hand.
