Dark stoneware finished with a shimmer wash and set with Ethiopian opal stones that catch the light against the matte black surface. The hand-sculpted face emerges from the inky clay with a kind of weighted stillness.

Lex Pavone is a ceramic artist working from her Asheville, North Carolina studio under the name La Viva Verde. Inspired by ancient art, her trademark anthropomorphic vessels feature hand-sculpted faces, each one unique. Her pieces are elaborate but meant for everyday use, designed to bring ritual and intention to ordinary moments.
