The Small Exo Lamp in Charcoal by sculptor and designer Abid Javed is a one-of-a-kind sculptural ceramic lamp with a textured finish. The lamp is and coiled hollow form sculpted in stoneware clay, then dried and high-fired before assembly as a lamp. The sculpture was then wired with a brass lamp base for E26 light bulbs, and features an in-line switch. Abid's design was based on an existing sculpture design which, inspired by subdued cave lighting, Abid transformed into a light source. He notes that Exo is primarily a statement piece, but is also functional in curated spaces. 

With a background in Molecular Biology, Abid works in a range of scale and clay bodies, carefully crafting each piece to bring a biological narrative or an idea to the forefront - emphasis being on form and materiality. He incorporates a strong interplay between form, color, texture and spaces into each of his designs. Therefore, each piece is a labour of love to transform living spaces.
