ABID JAVED

Abid Javed is a ceramic sculptor and designer, creating collectible (molecular) objects. 

With a background in Molecular Biology, the collections bring in the unseen world to the forefront. Subject matters explored include cells to molecules, together with influences from islamic art & geometry, translated in to sculptural language via an abstract lens. 

All objects are hand-built, encompassing pinch, coil, and slab methods. Working in a range of scale and clay bodies, each piece is carefully crafted to bring a biological narrative or an idea to the forefront - emphasis being on form and materiality. Each piece incorporates a strong interplay between form, colour, texture and spaces. Therefore, each piece is a labour of love to transform living spaces.
