Â
A large paper floor lamp that stands on its own, the result of more than a year of material experimentation. McMahon took the outline of a classic floor lamp and made it entirely from handmade abaca fiber paper. Dried, pressed flowers go in near the end while the pulp is still wet, so their natural color bleeds slightly into the paper.
Â
Dan McMahon was born and raised in Brooklyn and studied Three Dimensional Design at Camberwell College of Arts in London. His work starts with materials and fabrication, and his ideas come out of hands-on research, experimentation, and prototyping.
