High Ornament synthesizes Smith's time walking the city, taking in two hundred years of ornament crafted onto its streets and buildings.
 
Lillian Smith is a Brooklyn-based sculptor whose wall-mounted biomorphic works appear as though they have grown rather than been made. She treats nature as a source of knowledge, sculpting intuitively in a process she calls meditative, reflecting on the organized chaos of nature and humanity's attempts to control it.

For this collection, we invited our artists to create objects exploring the moment when the exuberant growth of summer begins its slide into the decay of autumn, the friction between the heavy, nectar-filled bloom and the curling, brown edge of the leaf, and the transformative energy found in seasons of transition.
