Grasses and red blooms sweep across a ground of warm Naples yellow. This body of work grew from Silverstein's fascination with folk art and found objects, and from the idea of a painting as an object rather than an image. Cotton duck canvas is stretched over pine and cradled in a wooden frame he paints by hand, built as an extension of the work rather than a decoration around it.

David Silverstein is a multidisciplinary artist based in Connecticut. His work explores a personal relationship with nature, vision, memory, and cross-cultural symbolism through handmade objects and paintings.
