A reclining figure is drawn across the cream and turquoise surface of this ceramic moon jar by Gianfranco Briceño, set above bands of deep blue, rust, and green around the base. Small gold accents dot the shoulder beneath a torn, folded white mouth. Handmade in high temperature ceramic, worked in engobes, oxides, and glazes. Briceño is a Peruvian ceramicist, sculptor, painter, and photographer based in São Paulo, Brazil whose work draws from ancient Greek and pre-Inca cultures.
