A stoneware side table built as a rough column, organic forms pushing through its surface the way vegetation takes back the mined landscape around Quirion's hometown in Quebec, a contrast she has named as the imprint behind her work. The dark tan clay carries a coarse, mineral texture, and the flat top takes books, a lamp, or a morning coffee.

Karen Quirion is a Canadian multidisciplinary artist based in Thetford Mines, Quebec, and the founder of the label KQK, where ceramics grew out of her fashion practice. A self-taught ceramicist and long-time lover of brutalist architecture, she hand-builds every piece through coiling, pinching, and slab building, an experiment in deconstruction through organic forms.
