A stoneware mug with a smooth body, soft glaze, and an applied scallop shell detail. Quieter in texture than the carved Scallop pieces, the shell accent and pale surface reflect O'Donoghue's connection to the coast and the forms she finds there.

Kalya O'Donoghue is a Brooklyn-based ceramicist who breaks glaze compounds down to their chemical foundation, adjusting and rebuilding them to create unique surface treatments. After graduating from RISD's Industrial Design program, O'Donoghue worked in furniture and lighting before founding her chemistry-focused ceramic studio.
