A stoneware mug with a carved scallop pattern and a reactive glaze in deep, dark tones. O'Donoghue's glaze chemistry produces surface variations unique to each piece, with the dark colorway pulling from the textures she finds in tide pools and ocean surf.

Kalya O'Donoghue is a Brooklyn-based ceramicist who breaks glaze compounds down to their chemical foundation, adjusting and rebuilding them to create unique surface treatments. After graduating from RISD's Industrial Design program, O'Donoghue worked in furniture and lighting before founding her chemistry-focused ceramic studio.
