Part of Murphree's Portals series, inspired by varietas, the idea that many different elements can exist within one whole. Murphree thinks of these mirrors as an invitation rather than a chore, a place where inner work begins. This one already has a face, eyes, nose, and lips sculpted onto the glass, so whoever looks in shares the mirror with one of the benevolent characters that inhabit Murphree's work, framed in ribbed rainforest green.

Based in Nashville, Tennessee, Keavy Murphree creates ceramic sculptures resembling fantastical human faces and creatures. An industrial designer for many years before opening her studio in 2018, she draws on contemporary design and a deep reverence for folk and indigenous art of the Americas, making work that seems inhabited by friendly and benevolent house gods watching over family homes.
