STYLE GUIDE: GILDED
Image via @juliabimer
If you've been following LES for even a little while, you've probably noticed that we obsess over anything gilded. We encounter gilded objects and spaces often on our sourcing trips to vintage markets and antique fairs or in the beautiful homes we style, but it seems it is gaining more attraction in the collector's world as well. Whether if inspired from Downton Abbey or Kelly Wearstler's pops of gold she incorporates to the homes she designs, everywhere we turn we see a love of the gilded age. Often found in rich golds and intricate details, the ornament or sometimes sculptural details of a gilded space, bring texture to a room and create new depth within a space or landscape. For us, the bolder the details, the better. We love when a new home feels like it was built 100 years ago through intricate molding or if a gold-embedded fireplace has seen better days. It reminds us that art and architecture are human too, and everything has a story. Check out (some of) our favorite gilded images below, and see our current collection of everything gilded at LES Collection now.
