FRIENDS OF FORM WITH JORDY MURRAY AND RICHARD BARONIO

For our first launch of the fall season, we had the privilege of shooting Richard Baronio's one-of-a-kind sculptural metal objects in the new home of Jordy Murray, the visionary founder of Friends of Form. Known for her remarkable ability to infuse vintage charm into modern spaces, Jordy's modern loft, filled with unique design, was the perfect backdrop for Baronio's debut collection with LES.

When our founder, Lauren Sands, asked about her apartment search criteria, Jordy's practical needs were clear. As a dedicated work-from-home professional, she required ample space for her endeavors and the possibility of accommodating employees. However, Jordy's decision went beyond the utilitarian; she expressed, "Living in New York for so long, the place you call home becomes a reflection of success—a milestone in one's career and life."

One of the defining features that sealed the deal for Jordy was the apartment's Southern facing windows, which would undoubtedly fill the space with natural light—a vital element for her work and overall well-being.

Jordy's affinity for vintage design is an integral part of her identity. When asked about her lifelong attraction to vintage, she explained,

"From my early days, I was drawn to vintage pieces. Exploring thrift stores was a treasure hunt, and I gravitated towards items that set me apart. Vintage design isn't just about history; it's about owning something DISTINCTIVE that exudes INDIVIDUALITY."

This love for the unique paved the way for Friends of Form, Jordy's business that breathes new life into forgotten treasures, allowing them to continue inspiring. The company's ethos aligns with Jordy's desire to bring fresh contexts to old pieces, reviving their stories and significance.

Jordy's personal style, heavily influenced by her affinity for vintage, has been a conscious choice. "My journey to stand out and develop my own style began early," Jordy revealed. "As a child, I couldn't afford popular brands like Hollister or Abercrombie, which led me to create my own distinctive look. I've always been averse to knockoffs; AUTHENTICITY AND ORIGINALITY MATTER."

When discussing her design approach, Jordy distinguished crafting spaces for clients and curating her own living environment. For clients, she creates narratives that merge their inspirations with her unique perspective, forging a cohesive story through carefully chosen pieces. In her own space, Jordy's approach is more intuitive and gradually curated, reflecting her personal journey and experiences.

Looking to the future, Jordy shared her excitement for pieces that are set to transform the LES office—an obsession with a recently acquired brutalist console and the anticipation of a custom coffee table with a slate top. These additions, true to her style, are bound to create a distinct and inspiring environment.

In essence, Jordy Murray's journey is one of purposeful design, driven by a profound connection to vintage aesthetics. Her ability to blend nostalgia with modern functionality and infuse spaces with past stories is a testament to her creative prowess. As she settles into her new apartment, adorned with carefully selected vintage treasures, Jordy Murray's success story continues to unfold—one unique piece at a time.
