1. Wear something comfortable as a host. If I have to suck in, I don't wear it. It's not sustainable. Nothing worse than being uncomfortable and trying to be welcoming at the same time.

2. If guests offer to help carry items to the table, take them up on their offer. I find it makes everyone feel more comfortable if they are included in the process.

3. I try to keep my dinner parties to an intimate group of 8. Any more than that, I feel I'm not able to fully connect with everyone

4. Don't be precious - beautiful doesn't have to be perfect. This will make everyone feel more at ease knowing that they can touch more than just their food.

5. I try not to have overly fragrant florals or candles as they can overpower the menu.

6. I like to keep my tablescapes simple. You've spent days planning your beautiful menu - let the table be its canvas.

    7. Sit strangers together.

    8. I try not to sit anyone at the ends of the table. Traditionally these seats are reserved for the host(s) or guest of honour but I find this position ostracises rather than includes.

    9. This is highly subjective and weather dependent, but if possible, we let people keep their footwear on.

    10. When I introduce a guest to another guest, I like to include one detail of each person to spark conversation.
