Shot at Friends of Form

Last year's VOLUME II cover story was shot at the (no better word than) stunning former studio of interior and design house Friends of Form. The North Brooklyn loft backdrop, filled with FofF's trademark eclectic and obsession-worthy 20th-century collectible design, was the perfect complement to our Spring / Summer 2022 Collection. The painted white walls and floors beamed in the midday February sun streaming in from the North Brooklyn space's large windows, creating the pulsing background you can see our Spring / Summer Collection come alive against on the cover and in a multi-page spread inside the issue. Shot by Brooklyn-based Photographer Max Burkhalter and styled by the lovely Interior Architect and Designer Kim Mupangilaï, the shoot was another exciting and collaborative step in our VOLUME journey.

Our Spring / Summer 2022 Collection was, in true LES fashion, organic and playful. Featuring the work of Han-Chiao, Keavy Murphree, and the joint sculpture work of husband and wife duo Evamarie Pappas and Gary Oglander, the ceramic pieces are each a soulful representation of their maker. An unexpectedly cohesive grouping, we love how the work was balanced by Friends of Form's design collection. An additional location perk was the backdrop of Artist Ryan Winnen's paintings on view at the studio space. The kismet happenstance resulted in an editorial spread of vibrant, textural, layered goodness. Too good in fact, that we had to share here in the weeks leading up to the launch of VOLUME III.
