Jana Nel is a self-taught ceramic artist based in South Africa, known for her distinctive, hand-crafted pieces that blend bold, structural simplicity with a feminine silhouette. Inspired by ancient antiques, particularly from the Hellenistic and Etruscan periods, her work features selective accents of aged brass, evoking the Etruscans' mastery of metalwork. Each piece in her Heirloom Collection is named after a traditional Hellenistic woman’s name, celebrating pottery as an enduring art form. Jana creates her ceramics from premium stoneware clay and top-tier glazes, using both traditional wheel-throwing and hand-building methods. Produced in limited quantities, her work blurs the line between art and functionality, with a commitment to quality and craftsmanship that ensures each piece is designed to be passed down through generations.
