The Black Amphora ceramic vessels are handcrafted in the village of Tamegroute in Southern Morocco. On the edge of the Sahara Desert, the small village has cultivated an artistic tradition centered around pottery since the mid-1600s. Seven Tamegroute families have, for centuries, run their own ceramic studios, passing the craft's traditions through generations. These masterful artisans continue to use manual pottery wheels, working out of humble huts constructed from the same spinning clay.
