Getman-Pickering built it by split turning, where two pieces of wood are glued up with a sheet of paper between them, turned on the lathe, then split apart along the paper seam to leave one face round and one flat. The parts are cut with a series of jigs and joined back together. Simple as it looks, the build runs through many of the techniques he has collected over the years.
