Resilient is a sculpture by Eileen Braun. It is a black and white abstract biomorphic form with circular markings. The sculpture has a papier-mâché core made of recycled, shredded office waste paper. The paper waste was made into a very clay-like slush that allowed Braun to form strong shapes. Next, the sculpture was covered in rattan reed and encaustic wax. Finally, the playful, hand-drawn surface was created with a wax "china" marker—the complete form was then heat set.

Material: Rattan reed, encaustic wax, fabric, recycled paper fiber, cotton string, and adhesive

H 20" x W 8”
