Handmade in Italy, Miho's cloth candlesticks are a beautiful example of fine artisanal craftsmanship. Nodos is a set of two candle holders in vivid hues of green, yellow, purple, and soft gray, featuring intricate woven detailing reminiscent of classic passementerie. Style the pair on their own, or complete the family with their older sibling Reticolo - shown styled altogether in the second image.
Passementerie's origins can be traced back to nomadic tribes in the Middle East that used cords to help construct tents and tie provisions onto camels or donkeys during travel. Eventually, artisans began experimenting with the woven ties, turning the functional tools into decorative art pieces. The art form was recognized in 16th Century France - where similar woven materials were used to prevent the unraveling of a cord or knot on cushions and draperies - and named Passementerie, which translates to "turning by the hand".
