Crazing, cracking, crawling, and blistering run across the terracotta as evidence of transformation through the heat of the kiln, marks that become decoration instead of failure. For her the process mirrors the cycles of nature and of motherhood, where profound physical and emotional change brings both fragility and resilience, and beauty emerges from the change itself.

Talia Warshawsky makes contemporary ceramics that look like they were dug up in ancient Mesopotamia. She trained in Mashiko, Japan, where the pottery taught her to step away from perfection, and she traces her heritage to Morocco, whose art and culture run through her work. Before clay she spent ten years designing textiles, which is where her love of texture comes from.
