Gaïa is a handmade ceramic sculptural vessel by Swiss Artist Anne Podbielski.

Anne carved the original Gaïa out of white marble more than 20 years ago: "Facing marble blocks, my inspiration is guided to me by a benevolent force emanating from the universe. Gaïa is the result of one of those messages I received. It represents Mother Earth, the goddess, and the personification of the Earth in Greek mythology."

After relocating to Portugal, Anne decided to give Gaïa a second life. Working with skilled local craftsmen in Caldas da Rainha, Gaïa has been reforged in 100% ceramic to become a timeless homeware piece. By thoughtfully reproducing her work in small quantities and associating the purity of the line to the imperfection of the artisanal tradition, Anne hopes to integrate art into everyday life. Gaïa can be filled with flowers or live simply as a sculptural object.
