Barbican is a sculptural ceramic vase by English ceramicist Talia James. Made by hand from terracotta, Barbican is doubled fired then covered in a copper glaze with verdigris-colored markings. Inspired by Brutalist architecture and design, James' Barbican is named after the Barbican Performing Arts Center in London, a brutalist style building built in 1982.

James is influenced by the Wabisabi simplicity of the pottery made in Mashiko, Japan, where James trained as a ceramicist, and the artwork and culture of Morocco, where she traces her heritage. James's ceramics celebrate both the surfaces of the natural world and marks left by her hand. This vessel is not watertight and should only be used with dried florals.

Note: Slight variations in glaze and size will occur due to the hand-made nature

Material: Glazed ceramic

L 11" x W 11" x H 10"
