GIORGIA PIU
Giorgia Piu is an Italian ceramicist and the hands and heart behind Rose de Nour Ceramics. Using the coil technique, which involves slow winding and pinching, Piu works with high quality Raku clay to create her free-form sculptures. She is inspired by the ways in which her personal evolution has mirrored that of Mother Earth and the teachings she can pull from that. "In recent times I have thought a lot about a correct description for my evolution with the earth. Every thought has gone towards history, contemporary forms, community, and every single emotion that the land herself can transmit. My latest collections, therefore, create a bridge for the different souls that live inside me. From the free forms of the sculptures to a look toward the history of cultures. From traditional earth to soft organic shapes transformed into modern ceramics, enhancing any element that this wonderful world offers us."
The message of the ceramics created for Nour is a fusion between past and present: raw material and shapes with an ancient flavor that marry a modern and experimental creative approach to light and color.
